Toronto Podcasts (Podcasting)
What are Podcasts?
Podcasts are audio files that are automatically delivered directly to your desktop computer, and can be transferred to your iPod or other MP3 player. You typically subscribe to podcasts using "podcatcher" software. We recommend Apple's iTunes, but there are many to choose from.
How much does it cost?
Nothing!
Must I have an iPod or similar MP3 player?
No. While many podcast users do listen on their portable MP3 players, you can always enjoy podcasts straight from your PC.
Podcasts offer marketers and content providers the ability to provide information, education, entertainment or exclusive value added subject matter to users via an extremely low cost distribution model.
Podcasts foster deep engagement with brand and content, and like most forms of online media, real time rates of engagement can be easily tracked through subscription and download statistics. Content can be released to subscribers at intervals through many networks like Apple iTunes or via rapidly emerging RSS aggregating technology being adopted in the newest generation of web applications.
Increasingly, advertisers and brands seek to sponsor topical podcasts that reach valuable demographic groups. Video podcasting has moved to the forefront with recent releases of next generation portable devices. Like corporate blogs, podcasts are seen as highly relevant, community-centered media that have become widely adopted by web users.
